Community Day Trips

Due to Government UKSPF funding we are delighted to be able to announce our new Community Day Trips. These are open to anyone, the funding allows us to offer North Tyneside residents free return coach travel, those who do not live in North Tyneside will pay a small fee of £6-£8pp

Return coach travel from the John Willie Sams Centre, Dudley NE23 7HS.

Due to limited spaces BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.

Please note all North Tyneside residents will need to complete a residents participation registration form as part of our funding agreement. This only needs to be done once and will handed out on the day of travel.

Seahouses – Monday 08 July.

Coach departs 10.30am to arrive for 11.30am. Departs Seahouses approx 3pm to arrive back by 4pm.

North Tyneside residents – Free coach travel, proof of address required plus funding form required to be completed on the day of travel.

If you do not live in North Tyneside, you must pay £6.00 to secure your seat.

The below includes FREE coach travel for NT Residents, OR £6 for non residents. However there is an £8 charge for entry to Alnwick Gardens for everyone! Any fees must be paid when booking.

Pretendy Chef Volunteer

VOLUNTEER WITH US!

Due to the increased workload for our Pretendy Chef team WE NEED YOUR HELP!

If you have an interest in cooking, confident and reliable with access to your own transport drop us a message. Send an email to admin@quadrantleisure.org

Initially TWO volunteer roles are available, expenses will be covered and there may be an opportunity for paid P/T hours in future if you wish?

The work shall be in North Tyneside (Dudley/Annitsford/Burradon).

A commitment of around 2-4hrs, Tuesday and/or Fridays per week, weekdays only between 11.30am-2.30pm

If you are interested, then this role could potentially expand for you to support our school work and holiday clubs with young children which would require enhanced DBS (we will for the DBS).

This role includes:

Helping with the setting up and clearing down
Basic food preparation before activities
Washing up kitchen equipment throughout the class
Helping participants to pick up new skills and give reminders on how to follow the instructions provided by the Chef instructor

Youth Project Worker

Our new INSPIRING FUTURES project will be a programme of events, activities, and workshops to help girls and young women aged 11-19 understand and explore career opportunities, life skills, physical, social, and mental wellbeing.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated youth and community worker, with an interest in empowering young people and fostering positive change in the community

JOB DESCRIPTION

Working closely with Quadrant Leisure, you will help implement programmes that address the diverse needs of youth promoting community engagement and facilitating partnerships to enhance overall community wellbeing. With our support you will help design implement and evaluate age-appropriate programmes and activities to meet the developmental needs of the youth, provide guidance and support to youth participants fostering personal growth leadership, skills and a sense of community.

You will collate a range of data, information and imagery that creates evidence of your work and the impact it is making not only to young people but also to the wider community. There is scope for you to be creative in this role and make a significant difference to the young people you work with. This is a very exciting and varied role and as such, a flexible approach to work including willingness to take on tasks outside of the normal remit and to work irregular hours, is essential in this role.

Inspiring Futures Funding

We are absolutely delighted to confirm we have funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Youth Fund.

This is to deliver weekly provision until March 2025.

Pretendy Chef Feedback

We are looking for YOUR IDEAS to help us shape future Pretendy Chef events, activities or workshops.

The last 12 months has been exceptional for us as a team and whilst our calendar for 2024 is already taking shape with three schools taking up a large portion of our schedule, we are now looking to reshape our community activities.

To clarify what we already offer and have planned;

School kitchen workshops
Kids nursery chef
Adult community workshops
Kids mini chef birthday parties
Seasonal parties, Halloween, Christmas & Easter
School Holiday clubs

Our team work across three different venues in Newcastle, and we currently work with schools in North Tyneside and Northumberland. Location is not an issue, as long as we have access to a kitchen!

So, whatever ideas you may have – let us know. It could be any idea for a food related activity, it could be the type of cookery workshop you would be interested in attending. Is it for you, for your child, or even for you to attend as a family?

You may even want to know how to get involved by volunteering your time to help us deliver all these activities in 2024! Whatever your thoughts are, please let us know!

Warm Welcome Launch

We are delighted to announce we are now offering a ‘Warm Welcome’ scheme at the Dudley Library, North Tyneside and Richardson Dees Primary in Wallsend thanks to funding from North Tyneside Council.

What is Warm Welcome?

We are using the Dudley Library at the John Willie Sams Centre and the school hall at Richardson Dees. The Warm Welcome scheme is national initiative offering families and the local community a safe, warm space to grab a free hot or cold drink, a biscuit/snack and the funding allows us to provide some additional activities for young children. The Golden Age

This project is supported with funding from ‘The National Lottery Community Fund – Awards 4 All‘

The ‘Golden Age’ project will offer weekly community activities and look to cover a broad range of subjects and interests, these will include dancing, cooking, coffee mornings, gardening and walking groups. The project aims to combat isolation for older people across the community and surrounding areas and to improve independence by allowing them to become more active, improving health, well-being, and quality of life.

Health Inequalities

A comprehensive programme offering opportunities for all participants to improve their lifestyle and make informed choices about their health and lifestyle. Our project aims to make a sustainable long-lasting difference for each participant. The project is supported by VODA with funding from the North East & North Cumbria CCG in association with North Tyneside Council, read the press release here…

Our Health Inequalities project has a generational / community approach to delivery.

Physical activity, nutrition and educational elements will focus primarily, but not exclusively, on young children and families.

The key target will be to attract those families who are in receipt of free school meals.

HOW WILL I BENEFIT?

We aim to use the community element to encourage older adults and disability groups to utilise our community garden and activity group classes to help address social isolation and sedentary behaviour.

Where we offer other educational elements, this will also target young people aged 16-25 with special needs, autism and learning difficulties to help improve life skills, self-confidence and build social awareness.

OUTCOMES

We aim to target

FAMILIES – by participating in our family fit element where they will also learn nutritional awareness a to improve their physical health. This will be over a 16 week period.
OLDER ADULTS – to improve physical and mental health working alongside our community garden and group class activities, which will also address social isolation and improve community spirit.
SEN YOUNG PEOPLE – those with special needs, autism and disabilities will improve confidence and physical health through our group activities.
LONG TERM ILNESS – targeting those living with long term illnesses such as Parkinsons or cancer to improve mental and physical wellbeing through 1:1 and small group opportunities.
